GRAHAM PRESTON
Biography
Graham Preston was formerly a master surfboard shaper and avid East Coast surfer who turned to painting in his mid 20's. Preston has a fascination with cultural narratives surrounding youth and their inherent associations with memory, identity and romanticism. Often layered formal shifts of application come together within his paintings to portray the physical separation of time and its effect on mental recollection, nostalgia and the obsessive psycho-analytical nature of contemporary life.
Preston has resided in various locations in the northeast over the last decade. He is a proud dropout of the Brooklyn College MFA program and is now finishing his degree in the inaugural class of PAFA's newly launched, progressive low-residency program. He currently lives and works in the city of brotherly love.
